Pinky Dinky Doo is an animated television series created by Jim Jinkins. It was produced and co-owned by Cartoon Pizza and Sesame Workshop.

The series was made in association with CBC Canada and Discovery Kids. For season two, two new companies (Abrams Gentile Entertainment and the Canadian studio Keyframe Digital) joined as co-producers as well.

The show was an international co-production. Cartoon Pizza, Sesame Workshop, and Abrams Gentile were based in the United States; CBC and Keyframe Digital were based in Canada; and Discovery Kids was based in Latin America.

Plot[]

A seven-year-old girl named Pinky makes up stories in every episode to help her little brother, Tyler, accomplish something or figure out his problems.

The series focuses on Pinky, Tyler, and Mr. Guinea Pig. Pinky's parents are Mommy Dinky Doo and Daddy Dinky Doo, and her three best friends are Nicholas, Bobby, and Daffinee. They are all residents of Great Big City.

International broadcast[]

The first season's credits specifically list two broadcasters, Discovery Kids and CBC, as co-producers on Pinky Dinky Doo. All other broadcasters do not have a co-producer credit next to their logos in the credits.

Discovery Kids Latin America was the first channel to air the show worldwide. It aired the world premiere of Pinky Dinky Doo on April 5, 2005. The show was first shown in English on CBC in December 2005.

Pinky Dinky Doo was sold to over 35 international broadcasters. Aside from CBC, Canadian stations that have aired the show include TVOntario, Knowledge Network, and TFO. In the United States, the show has been seen on AFN Family, Noggin, Univision, Nick Jr. Channel, HBO Kids, HBO Max, and Sensical. In the United Kingdom, the show was seen on the BBC's children's channel CBeebies. In Germany, it aired on Super RTL. In France, it aired on France 5.

In the United States, Pinky Dinky Doo premiered on April 10, 2006 and ended on September 18, 2009 on Noggin. It later aired on Nick Jr. Channel from September 28, 2009 until April 8, 2011. At this time, eleven segments from the second season were left unaired in the United States. From 2016 to 2021, the series aired on HBO Kids, which aired the entire series, including the unaired second season episodes.
